Highlights

The available Light-Emitting Diode (LED) headlamps are designed for low-beam use. Compared to conventional headlights, the LED headlamps in the HS 250h last longer and use 30% less power. Not only are these headlamps more efficient, each is fitted with three LED lights and has a distinctive blue tint, giving the vehicle a more modern appearance.

LED taillamps require 70% less power to illuminate and react quicker than conventional bulbs.

The available Intuitive Parking Assist system consists of two sonar sensors installed at each corner of the front bumper and four sonar sensors on the rear bumper. When obstacles are detected, the available navigation display and combination-meter multi-information display indicate their proximity, and if they're too close, the system will also sound warning beeps.

SmartAccess recognizes two different drivers' Smart Access keys and recalls their desired climate control and memory settings. For added convenience, touch-sensitive door handles let you lock the door simply by touching the door handle.

To help maintain a pre-set following distance, the available Dynamic Radar Cruise Control uses radar technology. Should your vehicle get too close to the one traveling just ahead, the throttle is automatically reduced and the brakes are applied. As soon as the road ahead clears, your vehicle returns to your pre-selected speed.

For better visibility when it's raining, water-repellent glass makes water bead up and roll off the front-door glass and the outside mirrors. In addition, acoustic windshield glass and optimally positioned sound insulation materials, help ensure exceptional quietness.

The exhaust heat recovery system further enhances fuel efficiency during winter months by enabling a faster engine warm-up time and also helps the car's heater warm up more quickly.

Lexus hybrid system Overview

Equipped with Lexus' first four-cylinder gas engine, the 2.4-liter Atkinson-cycle powerplant generates 187 total system horsepower. The highly efficient Atkinson-cycle engine, made possible by the Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) system, allows the expansion/power stroke to be significantly longer than the compression stroke so that combustion energy can produce engine power more efficiently.

Performance is further enhanced by the Electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (ECVT). Unlike typical automatic transmissions that have a fixed number of gear combinations, the hybrid's ECVT allows for virtually unlimited combinations, maximizing the powertrain's efficiency and allowing the driver to enjoy a smoother acceleration that can't be experienced with conventional transmissions.

To make efficient driving easier, a hybrid power meter shows instantaneous eco-driving status, while a green ECO indicator light rewards you when you are driving efficiently.

Driving Modes

To make the most efficient use of the hybrid system ECO mode tempers extreme requests on the air-conditioning system.This mode can improve MPG by as much as 7%.

Power mode provides significantly more responsive acceleration.

EV mode lets you drive under electric power, virtually free of noise and emissions, at speeds up to 20 mph under certain conditions.
