TechCrunch wrote earlier today that Yahoo! is meeting today to decide how it will respond to Microsoft's unsolicited acquisition offer.
No matter what the outcome is, the effects will be drastic. Basically 3 things are predicted:
Whichever the case, Yahoo! won't be the same. It is apparent already that the fight long between Microsoft, Yahoo! and Google is becoming a two-sided match between Microsoft and Google.
I wonder how this could effect Lead Maverick...
First, we depend on search engines to return good results to searchers, thus presenting those searchers with Lead Maverick content. Google does this best. They are the king of search - have been and will be for a long time. If....IF Yahoo! search was abandoned then there are only two large search engines left - one of which is incredibly far behind in search technology...ahem...Microsoft.
What I'm getting at is that we will most likely see an increase in searches on all other search engines and fewer on Yahoo!. Google will see more searches and....finally...you will see more results!
Of course this is all hypothetical, but what is certain is that the marketplace is going to be very different very soon. Stay tuned!
