Recently, Charles Phillips, CEO of Infor, announced that Infor would be offering discounts for customers who switched to the ION Middleware Platform. The platform is useful for many companies because it reduces integration issues that often arise for enterprise applications. Infor is offering discounts for customers that will switch, and they are also offering starter bundles. ION stands for intelligent open network and the ION Middleware Platform was released in June of 2011. It aims at easing the process of combining Infor with third party applications for enterprises. CEO of Infor, Charles Phillips, explained ION in more detail: “ION is a simplified integration platform for enterprise applications based on Extensible Markup Language (XML). XML is basically a document standard, and the Open Applications Group has defined business transactions in it. So XML is standards based and there is a document for inventory, for customer, for invoice etc. We have adopted all of these and that's the basis for our integration standard.”

The executives at Infor, such as CEO Charles Phillips and president Duncan Angove are working hard to establish ION Middleware Platform and encourage their 70,000 customers to use this application. President Duncan Angove also discussed the new ION Middleware Platform: “ION is the foundation of everything we are doing in our architecture. ION is what allows you to take advantage of application to application integration. Because of this we are making an offer to customers until 31 July called ION Foundation. Anyone who takes advantage of this product before this date will receive 60 percent off. Foundation provides everything you need to get going with ION, it contains the core release, the integration layer, and then all the connectors; the file connectors, database connectors and the connectors to our social offering, Pulse. We recognize that some customers might not be on applications that are ION enabled; it may be an old version of an Infor application, or a third party application that you want to integrate. Because of this we have also created something called ION Factory. This is a deeply specialized, integration competency centre, which can build very quick and very efficient ION adapters for you. The first time you use this you will have a heavily discounted consulting engagement with us. This opens up the promise of ION to everyone. I encourage everyone to take advantage of this.”

CEO Charles Phillips further explained that the middleware has gone through a complex transformation and is ready to be a successful application for Infor’s diverse customer base.
