Getting to Know Charles Phillips and Wife Karen Phillips

Charles Phillips is the CEO of Infor, a leading business software company. Before working at Infor, Charles Phillips was the president of Oracle Corporation and member of Oracle’s board of directors. While Charles Phillips worked for Oracle, the company grew three times the size and acquired 70 companies. Prior to Oracle Charles Phillips was a managing director in the technology group at Morgan Stanley. Not only is Charles Phillips a software and business expert, but he is also very knowledgeable about jazz, traveling, and life in general. In Charles Phillips’ bio on Infor’s website, it mentions that he is also involved in, “The Boards of Viacom Corporation, Jazz at Lincoln Center, New York Law School, the American Museum of Natural History, the United States Air Force Academy Endowment Fund, and Phillips Charitable Organizations.” He also served on the Obama Administration's Economic Recovery Board, which is led by Paul Volcker.

 

            In an interview with Charles Phillips, the interviewer asked Phillips several questions about his personal and business life. Charles Phillips shared that his favorite book is “Guns Germs and Steel” by Jared Diamond, he enjoys magazines about politics, technology, or law, and his favorite television show is “Columbo”. When asked about the important people in his life, Charles Phillips said wife Karen Phillips, as well as son Chaos, were special and unique people whom Charles is lucky to know. Charles Phillips’ wife Karen attended Grinell college and was a training and development officer at the headquarters of the Girl Scouts USA in New York. Charles Phillips and wife Karen have been seen at numerous charitable events together, including an event in New York for “The Hope for Depression Research Foundation”.

 

            In addition to speaking about his wife, Charles Phillips discussed some of the other joys in his life. He said that his favorite vacation spot is Madrid, for the food and music, but his favorite hotel is Las Ventanas in Los Cabos, Mexico. He has always wanted to become a United States senator, and his favorite quote is, “Most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them.” by Ralph Waldo Emerson. Charles Phillips’ most daring feat that he accomplished was jumping from a helicopter and of all of his professional accomplishments, he is most proud of his promotion to Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps. On his iPod, Charles Phillips has mostly old school jazz. Charles Phillips has had many interesting business accomplishments, and as unveiled in this interview, he also has many fascinating personal assets.
