Chiropractors Apply Manipulative Adjustments to the Spine and Back,  Manipulation and Therapy Relieve Back Pain and Improper Posture.

As a Chiropractor, one of the techniques I use with my patients is "manipulative adjustments".  In simple terms I'm applying manipulation to the vertebrae that have abnormal movement or fail to function properly. Another common term for this is "spinal manipulation" which in basic terms is therapeutic treatment for lower back pain.

The primary focus of this chiropractic treatment is to reduce the "subluxation" which results in an increased range of motion, reduced nerve irritability and improved function. If you go to www.wikipedia.com and type in "vertebral subluxation" you will get the clinical definition as to what it means and how the medical profession views this symptom.

A simple "adjustment" typically involves a high velocity, short leveraged arm thrust applied to the vertebra.  This technique will usually provide immediate relief for most patients, but if the patient is tense, or the surrounding muscles spasm during the treatment, it's usually best to apply ice, massage of the area, or do electrical stimulation.

Overall Effects of Adjustments

The objective of any adjustment is to produce increased sensory and motor functions as well as increased joint movement, blood circulation, and an improved nervous system. Depending on the different areas of the spine that this is applied, the patient will find that there is a positive outcome in all of their bodily functions listed above.

Chiropractic Manipulation Therapies

As I deal with many different people every day, I have to be skilled in a variety of different techniques that will be utilized.  To obtain these skills I can assure you that beyond the regular education I received (4 years college, 4 years chiropractic college), I'm constantly learning about new treatments and equipment that will better help me help my patients. Sometimes I have to make the determination that applying an adjustment won't work and so I've got to have alternatives which is why I try to focus on cutting edge solutions to solve all the problems associated with the spine and neck.

I do want to stress that this is rarely a one time appointment where you can walk in, get fixed and be on your way.  Yes it occasionally happens but the number of treatments for any one particular person can vary depending on the degree of the injury, and other factors that I must take into account. So please remember that any plan designed to treat your pain or injury is based on years of experience.  As a doctor I want you to heal quickly so that you can return to your normal routines and daily life pain free.  If you'd like to learn more about other treatment options and services, please visit my website: www.premierhealthclinic.net or contact me personally 972-713-9355.
