These are triggered by the natural changes in temperature during the day and evening where air & moisture get trapped inside the gaps of the roof. More than an aesthetic issue, these bubbles can lead to cracks in the membranes that can eventually cause bigger surface problems, leading to leaks and an opening for vermin.
This is caused by a clogged drainage systems on the roof. Leaves, twigs, & other objects can accumulate on drains during rainy days, leaving small ponds of water on the flat or "dead level" area of the roof. When these aren't fixed immediately, the small water formations can turn into major roofing damage.
Metal flashings can deteriorate quickly if they are not properly monitored. This process is accelerated when they were improperly installed, leading to an increase in stagnant water.
