Click here to connect to Dr. Sandy Gluckman's fascinating interview on The Doug Knoll Show about how ego versus spirit impacts your business relationships, weight managment and personal reationships.  Dr. Gluckman is the well-known author and keynote speaker whose book "Who's in the Driver's Seat? - Using Spirit to Lead Successfully" has successfully challenged leaders to embrace Spirited Economics™ – the concept that spirit is an untapped and quantifiable financial asset existing in all organizations.

Born in Johannesburg, South Africa during the apartheid era, business strategist, author and keynote speaker, Dr. Sandy Gluckman has been captivating audiences for many years with her amazing stories of what she learned from growing up in a country that practiced apartheid - and what she learned from Nelson Mandela. Sandy discusses how living with apartheid drove her to research and write her book, Who’s in the Driver’s Seat? in which she shows corporate leaders how to strengthen and focus the authentic courage, resilience, energy and enthusiasm of their employees to deliver extraordinary economic performance. Sandy holds a PhD in clinical psychology and has post-graduate studies in organizational behavior.

Doug and Sandy discuss her personal journey growing up witnessing the horrors of apartheid South Africa where Sandy witnessed, firsthand, the effects of arrogance and egos in leadership. She saw the impact of ego driven leadership and dedicated her professional life to studying ego and its effect on leadership in the workplace and in relationships.

Sandy explains to Doug Knoll that humans are born with an essence that is frequently lost through the process of socialization and personalization. Genuineness and authenticity are not approved by most cultures so children develop the need to seek approval from others by conforming to social norms. Thus, when there is a sense of threat or fear, we revert to defensive ego driven behaviors and lose self-awareness. This changes behaviors and causes conflict, poor decision-making, and disrupted personal relationships.

Through a series of call-in questions, Sandy is able to provide insight into the impact of ego-driven behavior on weight, how an ego-driven boss affects his employees, and how to manage ego-driven disagreements in personal relationships.
