The Don F. Lowe Salesperson of the Year Award was recently presented for the very first time at the Sir Speedy/Pip Printing annual sales training forum in Baltimore, Maryland. The following text is the actual transcript of the presentation delivered by Senior Sales Director, Mark Johns.

Tonight we are presenting a brand new award for the first time: The Don F. Lowe Salesperson of the Year Award.
Don F. Lowe became president of Sir Speedy in 1981. He is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Franchise Services, Incorporated, with 1,000 franchise locations in 27 countries, under the brand names of Sir Speedy, PIP Printing and Document Services and MultiCopy.
Don is a recognized and respected leader in the printing industry. He is active in industry associations, with a specific interest in providing opportunities for education. He is a leader of high moral character who sets the standard of service and accomplishment in our companies.
He was named Quick Printing Magazine’s Man of the Year in 1989.
In 2004, he was inducted into the Sales and Marketing Executives International Academy of Achievement Hall of Fame. He was recognized and selected for this honor for his lifetime contribution to the free enterprise system. That put him in company with previous honorees Henry Bloch, founder and co-chairman of H&R Block; Herb Kelleher, co-founder of Southwest Airlines; and Frederick Smith, CEO, FedEx Corp.
The recipient of the Don F. Lowe Salesperson of the Year Award is selected because of his/her demonstration of professionalism in their work; support of the Salesperson Program and participation in our events; because he/she serves customers in such a way as to bring credit to the franchisee and the Sir Speedy/PIP brands; and because he/she contributes to the success of others in the network.
Tonight I am pleased to present the inaugural Don F. Lowe Salesperson of the Year Award to someone who has met those criteria since the inception of the Salesperson Program. He has been involved in sales and marketing for twenty years, 15 of them as a salesperson for one of our franchises.
This person has earned regional or national salesperson of the year awards every year since 1998. He’s a ten-time Top Performer and a Million Dollar Sales Club qualifier four times. He has attended every Sales Forum we’ve ever had. He has been a panelist or presenter at all of them. Sometimes he was actually on the program; other times he just started talking and people gathered around. He’s been a sales leader, a sales manager, a trainer, a mentor and a friend to many. He is a man of faith and family.
The Don F. Lowe award will be presented when we wish to recognize an outstanding salesperson in either the PIP or Sir Speedy network. We may not present it every year. This one time, we are presenting it to someone who is not a member of the Salesperson Program. He WAS a member, until December 31, 2007. On January 1, 2008, he became the owner of a Sir Speedy printing center in Dallas.
