Digital Printing Capabilities Upgraded at Sir Speedy North Dallas (Dallas, TX)

Sir Speedy North Dallas, one of the DFW Metroplex's leading digital document centers has just announced an upgrade to one of it's digital presses, the Canon ImagePRESS 6000. The upgrade to the 6000VP level will allow heavier cover stock papers to output at the same rated speed per minute (60 sheets) as the lesser weight substrates. The upgrade will improve digital printing turnaround times by up to 50%, especially on larger jobs involving cover stocks.

Equipment Upgrade Improves Employee Productivity

General Manager, Tyler Crum, said, “this is probably something we should have done from the outset with this machine but our sales volume in the digital printing category has improved so much that it makes upgrading a necessity. Turnaround times for customers in a hurry will be improved, of course, but the real benefit is in productivity. We can print twice as much in the same amount of time when cover weight substrates are involved. And lately that has been pretty much all the time. “

A Bigger Server Means Faster Processing

Also included in the equipment upgrade package is the top of the line server that runs the digital press. “The brain (server) we had was great for the 6000 but it lacks the power to keep up with a consistent speed machine,”said Crum. “So we upgraded the server which is simply a bigger, faster computer with more memory and all the good stuff you want your computers to have. It not only keeps up with the 6000VP, it stays ahead of it. No more waiting on the server to rip something before you can print it.”

The ImagePRESS series is Canon's flagship series of machines at the moment. Always in direct, heated competition with its' closest rival competitors (Xerox, Oce, Konica-Minolta) the 6000 and 7000 models produce photographic quality output that equals or quite often exceeds that of Xerox's Igen, their flagship offering.
