W. H. Stark House
There are two new display exhibits. In the Carriage House, various collection objects have been moved into an 1890 Display Cabinet that once was in the library of the Stark House.
The WH Stark House dining room table is exhibited to portray a Stark family Thanksgiving Dinner using original silver, place settings of china and crystal. A really “good looking faux turkey” is ready to be carved. The display will remain up until the Monday after Thanksgiving.
The Stark House will have a booth for Art in the Park on Saturday, October 27. An art project for children will be available using inspiration from the house collection. Extra tours of the Stark House will be offered from 10 am until 3 pm for Art in the Park visitors.
Will France will be in Carriage House on Monday, October 22, photographing the first floor case objects.
Condolences and prayers go to Linda Womack and her husband Jimmy on the tragic loss of their youngest daughter, Cynthia K. Womack Bayliss on October 13, 2007 in Baytown, Texas.
Health Screening
With the high and rising cost of today’s healthcare, it has become increasingly more important to strive toward maintaining good health. The Foundation is committed to improving employees’ health and wellness. For this reason, we have again partnered with Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospitals to bring all employees FREE, confidential on-site health screenings and flu shots.
The HealthWorks Screenings will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2007 from 7:30a.m.-10:00a.m. in the Education Building. The screenings will consist of a Personal Health Profile, height, weight, body fat analysis, blood pressure, cholesterol, HDL, LDL direct, blood glucose and flu shots. To insure the best accuracy of your screenings, please fast for at least 10 hours prior to the event. In addition, men will receive a PSA (blood prostate screening). Each participant will receive a Personal Health Report in the mail at their home. The PHR will have “trended” results for every employee that also participated last year. Additionally, snacks and juices will be available to you immediately after your screenings.
For your convenience, Baptist Hospital has designated a confidential and secured website for you to complete your Personal Health Profile on-line before the event. They would greatly appreciate you taking advantage of this option which will help eliminate unnecessary wait times on-site. This service is ONLY available through 11/13/07. You can participate even if you don’t have access to the web.
Don’t miss this opportunity to take charge of your health! Pre-registration is REQUIRED (in addition to your on-line profile), by contacting Kathleen at 883-3513. Screenings and flu shots should take a maximum of 20 minutes per person.
