CEN 30 mobile retroreflectometer.
The
Laserlux CEN 30 mobile retroreflectometer is the latest and most sophisticated
mobile highway retroreflectometer on the market today. The Laserlux measures
the retro reflectivity of pavement markings using a scanning laser source. The
system, which has a scan width of 1.1 meters, gives the data both a contrast
and reflectivity measurement anywhere within the scan width.
The
Laserlux CEN mobile retoreflectometer collects data quickly by using new
high-speed data acquisition electronics and software, which measures out
precise angle settings of illumination and observation – the Laserlux can take
over 1150 measurements per hour. The system uses a GPS data logging system that
coincides with data to tell the user exactly where and what the reflectivity
will be in a certain area. This data is used to determine which areas need to
be restriped and which ones do not.
Stripe-A-Zone has created a new era in the striping industry.
As
the first company in the country to be certified by The Texas Transportation Institute, which makes it certified to operate the Laserlux retroreflectometer,
Stripe-A-Zone can now offer an inexpensive and accurate way to read the
reflectivity of pavement markings to make sure a restripe is needed.
For
example, the average restripe is priced at 30-50 cents per foot. Now, a mobile
retroreflectometer job is priced at 2/10 to 4/10 of a penny per foot – this is
a 2000% price difference per foot. This is a very small portion of money to spend
to make 100% sure that a restripe is needed!
