Billy Gunter: Chief Parking Lot Striping

With over 30 years of Construction experience, Billy Gunter has spent his entire career working in or around the construction industry. Starting at the age of 15, Gunter worked summers as a laborer doing roughen plumbing for Tinsley Plumbing and framing houses for a family members construction company. Gunter would continue doing this until he graduated from high school.
After high school, Gunter attended Trimble Tech Trade School, where he studied welding technology. After finishing school, Gunter accepted a job at Metal-Fab, working as welder/fabricator until 1982. Then, Gunter would spend the next 19 years working in the construction industry for Kay’s Construction and Extra Mile.
Gunter started as a day laborer in the field and eventually worked his way up to Project Superintendent. As a Project Superintendent, Gunter would oversee numerous jobs including: banks, schools, post offices, hospitals, and zoos. In 2001, Gunter decided it was time for a change and this would lead him to his next company…Stripe-A-Zone.
Gunter started at Stripe-A-Zone in August 2001 as a parking lot striping estimator for new and existing projects. In 2005, Gunter was named Chief Parking Lot Striping Estimator, which gives him the responsibility of all new parking lot striping estimates.
Some of Gunter’s previous work for Stripe-A-Zone includes, The Ballpark at Arlington, American Airlines Center, Prestowood Baptist Church (in conjunction with Manhattan Construction) and hundreds of other parking-lot striping and sweeping projects. Gunter’s newest task will be working alongside Manhattan once again for the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium project.

In addition to Manhattan Construction, Gunter has worked with many major General Contractors: Austin, Beck-Ford, Cadence McShane, Charter builders, EMJ Corp. Hunt,Hill & Wilkinson, Medco, Rogers-O’Brien, Turner and many more.
In March 2009, Gunter obtained his Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. The (LEED) Green Building Rating System™ encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally understood and accepted tools and performance criteria.
