STUDIO MOVIE GRILL DEBUTS ITS NATIONAL EXPANSION

New eight-movie theatre complex brings in-theater dining to Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo.Studio Movie Grill, Dallas-based pioneer of the highly successful “movie grill” concept begins its national expansion with an opening in Kansas City’s Zona Rosa shopping and entertainment development. The theaters open April 1.

Combining first-run movies, 100 percent digital projection with Dolby Digital Surround Sound and Dolby 3D along with a high quality menu for in-theater dining, Studio Movie Grill offers its customers the next generation movie-going experience.  As consumers continue to demand more from their theaters, Studio Movie Grill has been an industry leader, operating in the Dallas and Houston markets for more than 10 years as one of the most successful niche operations in the country.

With a proven track record under its belt, Studio Movie Grill co-owners Brian Schultz and Martin Massman believed the concept was ready for a national expansion.  They strategically selected the Greater Kansas City market as its newest site. The area has demonstrated a high demand for first-run movies, but was devoid of an in-theater dining experience. The Zona Rosa location will house a 40,000-square-foot, eight-screen upscale theater, complete with digital projection.  Along with the Dallas and Houston locations, Zona Rosa will be one of the few 100 percent digital theaters in the country.

At competitive ticket prices, movie-goers can view first-run movies in the comfort and luxury of restaurant style seating, with table service for dinner and drinks.  “Our commitment is to superior customer service, offering the premier location for first run movies in a market. We treat our customers as guests with the comfort of dining together while presenting entertainment through state-of-the-art technology,” said Schultz, founder and president.

“We are especially excited to be a new member of the Kansas City community and the dynamic Zona Rosa development. Our movie grill experience is second to none with leather recliners, delicious meals served at your table and a digitally projected blockbuster on the wall-to-wall screen.  We’re confident Studio Movie Grill becomes your first choice for movie watching.”

Zona Rosa is a popular five-year old, 1 million-square-foot urban town center in the city’s Northland, offering upscale dining, shopping and entertainment. Studio Movie Grill has proven to be a boom to surrounding retailers through its ability to provide advertising 365 days a year as well as bring in customers to nearby establishments.

The Studio Movie Grill delivers its unique experience with ticket prices competitive or equal to traditional theaters.  It offers customers the convenience of online ticketing (www.studiomoviegrill.com), as well as the coveted reserved seating, where patrons can purchase tickets and reserve seats ahead of time to avoid lines at the box office.

“Studio Movie Grill offers first-class presentation and service, but we don’t charge first-class prices,” said Massman. “We understand the consumer today is looking for ways to get more out of entertainment experiences but with less time.  Our online ticketing and reserved seating accommodates these hectic schedules and our in-theater dining gives patrons the opportunity to relax with dinner and a drink.”

Studio Movie Grill houses an inviting central bar with premium liquors and specialty drinks, where visitors can unwind before or after their theater experience.  In addition, the large capacity theaters are available to handle corporate functions, private events, birthday parties, lunch meetings and other special events.  Ticket prices start at $5.

Studio Movie Grill has seven locations in Texas: Addison, Arlington, Dallas/Royal, Lewisville, and Plano, as well as two locations in Houston: City Center and Copperfield in northwest Houston. Studio Movie Grill plans further expansion into Atlanta in late Spring 2010. For additional information, please visit www.studiomoviegrill.com.
