Plano Fence Company owner Sean Eubanks, President of Texas State Fence Co., builds all kinds of fences including horse fences and other animal control fencing.
One of the most common and important functions of fences is to keep pets enclosed and protected, while excluding other animals from your property. There is not single type of fence that accomplishes all of the above purposes. The type of fence needed depends on the type of animals that you want to enclose or exclude. If you have a problem with deer where you live you may need fencing the provides a barrier to deer. Since deer can jump quite high and can cover a large distance in a single bound deer fences must be either high, deep, or a combination of both. The height must account for the type of deer that you have and how high they can jump. In Central Texas there is a large population of mule deer and they can jump 6 to 8 feet high.Raccoon Climbing a FenceIn other parts of the United States the indigenous deer can jump as high as 10 feet. You have the choice of building a fence to an appropriate height or to angel the fence and cause it to have sufficient depth (width) and height that the animal will not try to cover the distance. Slanted fences or fences with brushy boundaries can be used to make the obstacle more intimidating to the deer.Raccoons can climb just about anything and they are extremely prolific diggers. To protect your property from raccoons you need a fence that has a element that is under ground and horizontal to the fence to prevent the raccoons from trying to under-dig the fence. To prevent climbing you can build with a top that is overhanging and loose so that the animal can not get a secure purchase when climbing.Fencing for other types of animals, including horses, will be discussed in another article.Plano Fence Company owner Sean Eubanks, President of Texas State Fence Co., has been installing all types of fences and automatic gates for over 15 years.
