Blogging and Content Optimization

Content is king on the Internet.  But not all content is the same in the eyes of a search engine.  One of the best things you can do for long term search engine results is to write good solid copy that is optimized for search engines.  In this post, I'm going to discuss content optimization.

How Do You Optimize Blog Content?

Blogs are just like any other website in that they present web pages to a search engine.  However, unlike normal web pages, blogs have personality and expectations from the reader.  Thus, a blogger has to pay very close attention to writing style and not let SEO efforts wreck that.  Second, posting on a blog is an actionable event that gets a process started.  When posted, search engines are pinged, a Tweet is created on Twitter, and comments can begin.   This will almost immediately put search engines on a blog post.  If the content isn't optimized out the door, a blogger can loose their advantage.

The Wrong Way. . .But Only Way Until Now

On really important blog posts, bloggers used to take a copy of the content and put it on an HTML page on a site that they had and run an online content checker on it.  This was very time consuming and wasn't 100% accurate.  Then again, this was the only way to go about this.

The Right Way

Scribe is a new WordPress plugin that accesses a backend content optimization service and provides bloggers real time feedback as to how their content is viewed by a search engine prior to posting.   For more information on utilizing Scribe as a blogger, visit How-To-Blog.TV and view the episode on Scribe.
