Stark Foundation Announces Closings/Cancellations Due to Hurricane Ike

ORANGE, Texas, September 8, 2008 - Due to Hurricane Ike's forecasted track targeting the upper Texas coast, the Stark Foundation will close the Stark Museum of Art, The W.H. Stark House, Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center, the Frances Ann Lutcher Theater for Performing Arts, and the Foundation's administrative office beginning Tuesday, September 9 and continuing indefinitely. 

The closings also affect Shangri La's Beat the Heat presentation featuring Jill Nokes, which was originally scheduled for Tuesday, September 9. Shangri La will reschedule the Nokes presentation to take place at a later date.

Additionally, the Stark Museum of Art has rescheduled its Fall Family Day from Saturday, September 13 to Saturday, October 4.

Information regarding reopening of these facilities will be updated as additional developments are known and as circumstances permit.
