Types of Lotion for Proper Skin Care

Find the right kind of moisturizer for proper skin care.

Skin care entails many types of lotion, and applying moisturizer daily is essential for skin care. This can create confusion and cause break outs if you use the wrong one for the wrong body part.

Most people apply only the most generic moisturizers for their entire body. While this isn't necessarily wrong, applying different types of lotion to different parts is even more beneficial to your skin. They are designed for specific part of the body, which will work more efficiently because it was engineered to treat certain spots.

Types of Lotion
  • Eye - The skin around the eyes is extremely delicate. Without proper care, the skin can damage really quickly. Look for special lotion that is designed specifically to target the sensitivity of skin around the eyes. The product should be delicate and light, with no harsh chemicals.
  • Face - There are hundreds of moisturizing products for the face, with good reason. Skin types vary from person to person. One moisturizer may work for a person with dry skin, but not a person with oily skin. Try to find a lotion meant to rejuvenate your skin type. Any product you buy, though, should be light. The face is filled with pores that help our skin breathe, so clogging these pores with harsh chemicals will only lead to blemishes.
  • Foot - Emolient for the foot is drastically different from what you would put on your eyes or face. It should be much thicker, because the foot is the most active part of the body. Applying thicker lotion, like a body butter, will help prevent calluses. Try to apply the product in the morning and night to maintain soft, healthy feet.
  • Body - Choosing a right body lotion is important because it will go over the majority of your skin. It can also substitute for face and foot lotion if you find yourself running out. Try an Organic Shea moisturizer like Tree Hut's Shea Extra-Rich Lotion for a light, nutrient-rich experience.
