US-Analytics IT infrastructure experts discuss Oracle Hyperion products, VMware, and answer questions from the audience. "So, on to the question of when you should be using VMware? The first question I always get asked: is it gonna be slower? Now it is the same with anything with VM; VMware has a little bit of overhead, 2-3 percent, something like that. It’s not something I see much affect with. Oracle Essbase, I do notice it is a little bit slower, it seems to be about how it accesses the hard drive. So I always suggest Oracle Essbase beyond physical hardware; works fine for planning on VMware but if you’re going to be doing some really serious calculations in Oracle Essbase with an Essbase cube, you probably want to do it with physical hardware."
