Hyperion Workforce Planning

Below is a transcript of a portion of a North Texas Hyperion User Group Conference workshop led by consultants form US-Analytics. US-Analytics IT infrastructure experts discuss Oracle Hyperion Workforce Planning and answer questions from the audience.

"Hyperion Workforce Planning is an application you purchase and out of the box comes with an account structure, input forms, business rules and forms, it comes with menus and smart lists, so if you’re not familiar with menus and smart lists you will become familiar with them. It comes with a best practices application design.

"Your key steps in implementing Hyperion Workforce Planning:

"Making sure your data is source corrected. Ours was PeopleSoft , and we actually got two data files, one Canadian and one U.S. Our Canadian file was different because Canada has different taxes than the U.S., and that’s one thing that does not come out of the box. Hyperion Workforce Planning only has US taxes in it, so I had to add everything for Canadian taxes, and we just loaded Mexico people in, we didn’t calculate their taxes. So if you have other taxes you have to add things to it.

"When you start adding things you have to go in and customize your forms, business rules and formulas to what your requirements are.  If you’re adding additional functionality, CompuCom wanted to do 401K, which Oracle people are in to but it is not in Hyperion Planning, so we had to add that. Then they had different other requirements that we had to do.

"We also had to remove some functionality because Hyperion Workforce Planning comes with Employee Rating and that Employee Rating is used for merit increases, but they didn’t want to use that rating, so we had to remove all that logic and make everything work. Then to integrate the Hyperion Workforce Planning data back into the primary database, we’re actually using X-Refs in the financial planning database and their store data, and we actually run a biz rules that brings everything over."
