Easter Traditions in Orange

As a child I always loved Easter. Of all the Easter traditions, my favorite was always the Easter egg hunt. I’ve always loved a good challenge, and the Easter egg hunt was one I welcomed with glee. I searched high and low for each and every egg, not giving up until I found the very last one. Finding one of those brightly colored eggs always filled me with sheer delight, and I took great pride in having a basket full of found eggs.

The excitement of this tradition still carries on today, as the City of Orange will host its annual free Easter Egg Hunt this Friday (Good Friday), March 21. Children ages zero to eight are invited to the Simons Drive Boat Ramp at 10:00 a.m. to participate. The fun doesn’t stop with the hunt, though. Balloons, fire trucks, a moonwalk, a super slide, and drinks will be on site to add to the fun. Plus, children will even have the opportunity to take a picture with the Easter Bunny. It is a perfect chance for the community to come together to enjoy this traditional activity that still brings joy to the hearts of children.

Orange’s Easter activities aren’t just for the kids, though. The W.H. Stark House has something in store for those ages 10 and up. The annual Easter display has been set up throughout the first floor of the house, offering a glimpse at how the W.H. Stark family may have celebrated the Easter holiday. You will see a beautiful Dining Room table setting, with family china, sterling silver flatware, a beautiful spring floral centerpiece, and even sterling silver baskets with colorful faux eggs.

The Breakfast Room is arranged for a more intimate meal with an equally beautiful setting, including brilliant cut-glass water tumblers, more family china, a Gorham centerpiece bowl with faux eggs, and more. The Stark House Library features a sterling cake plate with Easter décor, including the coveted chocolate bunny. Decorations can also be found in the Foyer, the Music Room, and the Back Hall. You can see the Easter display now through March 29 by scheduling a full tour of the home at (409) 883-0871 or WHStarkHouse.org.

No matter what your age, Orange has something fun for everyone to enjoy this Easter. Whether these activities are old traditions for you and your family or something you are experiencing for the very first time, you are sure to remember them for years to come. Not only will you be celebrating the holiday through these wonderful events, you will also be making a huge impact on the growth of Orange by supporting these efforts to bring the community together. It doesn’t stop here, though. More events are on the way as we continue this season of Orange in Bloom, so be sure to visit WatchOrangeGrow.com to stay up to date on all the latest happenings around town.

In the meantime, have a very happy Easter.
