What is Mindful Eating?


Mindful Eating is a practice the client does at home or work to bring awareness to the act of eating.

It starts with keeping a daily log of the meals consumed and in addition adding commentary about how the client was feeling at the time of the meal or snack. in other words, were they bored or stressed, etc.

Next, the client agrees to eat without other distractions such as the TV, phone or computer.  When full attention is on the meal we can appreciate the flavors and textures of the food and gain more satisfaction from each meal.

Eat with Awareness:

1) Eat only when body is truly hungry
2) Put fork down between bites
3) Eat at the table: Eating on the couch creates a conditioned response that says “every time you sit on me, you eat.”

If we just act in each moment, with composure and mindfulness, each minute of our life is a work of art. Be aware of the motivation behind your action, the intention behind your words, and the needs and experiences of other people. By doing so, you are making life beautiful for others.
