Professional Photography - Church and Event Directory Book Publishing

We are North Texas folks living in Carrollton, Texas, a suburb of the Dallas - Fort Worth metroplex, fulfilling a local need for friendly pictorial membership directory and event book publishing. After several personal, disappointing experiences with uncaring, "out-of-state", "here today - gone tomorrow" directory publishers, we expanded our professional photography business to feature Church and Event Directory and Book publishing.

With over 20 years of commercial film experience, Charles Ames got his roots from Kodak's first 35mm camera in the early 1940s. Soon thereafter followed a darkroom and years of photographic experiences using the latest in cameras and film processing.

Charles and Kathy Ames' first directory publishing experience came in 1980 when they published the Medical Directory of Massachusetts using the newest IBM database management applications.

In 2001, when digital technology became a viable alternative to film with instant view of the captured photograph, Charles began the switch from film to digital SLR. The first few years were frustrating with the small images and high equipment cost. But, as manufacturers "saw the light" in the marketplace, the quality and flexibility soon exceeded film. Now, Charles uses the latest Canon digital equipment for portraiture and candid images. Lighting is done with new "environmentally friendly" cool lights.

With the "instant view" brought by the digital age, Kathy Ames soon joined the ranks and uses a Canon SLR to capture her loves... family, grandkids, church, travel, nature, garden club and horticulture. It's rare to see Kathy out and about without a camera. Her motto is, "it is easier to show someone a picture than try to describe something, especially if it is a really good photo."

With the flexibility of the digital image, software technology has taken quantum leaps. Now digital press book publishing is almost automated, collage preparation takes advantage of the multiple images captured... not easily possible with film, and the client has the option of instant review and selection of portrait images.

Most important... the digital age, both in capture and final printing, has brought the cost of publishing within the reach of small and medium size churches, schools, organizations and businesses. No longer does an organization have to wait three or more months to get "offset printed" pictorial membership directory books. And, clients now get rapid turnaround on economically priced individual and family portraits that are superior in quality to years past film.
